Depending on the class, Shannon’s classes are filled with the right amount of energy, adventure, peace, and reflection. Her enthusiasm and warmth are contagious both on and off her mat. She believes in the importance of meeting and honouring your body. Shannon fosters an environment where individuals are empowered to work with their abilities, rather than focus on what is missing, with a spirit of kindness and self compassion.
Shannon brings her professional training and experience as a registered occupational therapist working in mental health to the mat. Her unique style adds elements of evidence based practices such as mindfulness to traditional yogic principles. She’s worked with people from many backgrounds and ability levels. Cultivating curiosity and beginning a new conversation with yourself – these are her hopes for you, if you join her in a class.
Before becoming an instructor, she practiced yoga for many years. She completed her 200 hour teacher training in 2008, in Anusara (alignment based) yoga. From here she pursued more training, to support individuals living with physical health limitations, round bodies and mental health challenges.
When Shannon isn’t on her mat, you’ll find her exploring nature, local farmers markets, cycling, spending time with her family, friends and puppy.
