Valerie Spironello, MSW, RSW

During Valerie's 30+ years as a social worker, she discovered the importance of looking at difficulties and problems using a holistic approach. She believes people are much better equipped to deal with the struggles and changes they encounter when feeling whole and healthy in body, mind and spirit. This belief underlies her 1-1 counselling, groups and workshops.

Valerie has a keen interest in and has trained in recognizing and working with the impact of compassion/care-giver fatigue on health care and social service providers. She uses a holistic approach to identifying and offering practical solutions to caregiver fatigue. Clients also may come with a variety of issues including life transitions, relationship struggles, sexuality, health challenges, bereavement and life/work balance.

Valerie is a trained meditation teacher having studied Mindful Self-Compassion, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Communication and Transformative Mindfulness Meditation protocols. She works with clients interested in incorporating mindfulness and mindfulness techniques in both personal and clinical practice.

Valerie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University and is committed to life-long learning in order to continue to develop her knowledge and skills.

She is in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers.

Valerie strives to provide a supported, inclusive and positive space.
